Chilton bags top spot in Barcelona test, Ferrari hit trouble

Max Chilton surprisingly managed to put minnows Marussia on the top of the time charts while troubles afflicted championship leader Mercedes' chief rivals on the first of the two-day in-season test in Barcelona as frequent showers interrupted the session on Tuesday. The Briton's fastest time, registered when the track had dried up, was just over three seconds quicker than his own time set during qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix on Saturday and just 1.2 seconds slower than the pole position benchmark recorded by Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton. However, Chilton's lap came on the supersoft tyre, the quickest of the four slick compounds across Pirelli's range, during a qualifying simulation....
