Jean-Eric Vergne says he is not approaching this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix with an overconfident demeanour, despite a couple of strong showings at the circuit.
Vergne ran in the top 10 in 2012 until a late tyre gamble failed to pay off, while last year he raced to a fine eighth place.
But the French driver does not believe that he can rely on his previous performances.
"I have raced there twice in Formula One and both times I performed well," he said. "I think it is one of the hardest races and you should always arrive there in a humble state of mind and never expect anything just because things went well the previous year.
