Pirelli report from Monaco qualifying

Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has clinched his sixth career pole position – one more than his famous father Keke – but the first pole of the year on Pirelli’s 2014-specification P Zero Red supersoft tyres, which are being used for the first time. The German, on pole in Monaco last year as well, used the P Zero Yellow soft tyre to get through Q1 followed by two sets of supersoft in both Q2 and Q3. However, with both wear and degradation minimal, and just one stop expected for many drivers during the race, saving tyres was not a priority.
