F1 could be set for Friday format change

The Formula 1 race weekend format could be set to change in 2015, with plans to scrap one of Friday's practice sessions in a bid to cut costs. There are currently two 90-minute practice sessions on Friday, with one 60-minute session on Saturday morning before qualifying. The proposal would condense a race weekend down from four days to three, with Thursday's media day being moved to Friday morning – to reduce travel and hotel costs. There would then be one single practice session in the afternoon, which would be timed to encourage fans to attend after work or school.
