The Canadian GP weekend was always going to be a revealing one from a technical perspective. With the tyres far harder than last year's compounds there has been a huge emphasis on piling on rear downforce to keep the rear core temperatures up and preventing heat degradation and graining. Coming to a track where rear downforce is not so much a necessity as such, we questioned whether the limiting performance factor are the tyres or the actual downforce levels the cars are producing. Judging by the low downforce configurations we have seen this weekend, it is almost safe to say that the tyres are indeed proving to cap performance.
