Abiteboul returns to Renault Sport as new MD

Following on from the immediate change of ownership at Caterham yesterday, former team principal Cyril Abiteboul is now stepping into the newly-created role of Managing Director of Renault Sport’s F1 operations in Viry-Châtillon. The 36-year-old was working for the French engine supplier joined Tony Fernandes’ outfit back in September 2012, replacing the Malaysian businessman trackside. The Paris-educated engineer will now report directly to Renault Sport F1’s new President, Jérôme Stoll, who will continue to fulfill his duties as Chief Performance Officer and Group Sales and Marketing Director.
