Alonso concedes Ferrari simply messed up during qualifying

Fernando Alonso has chalked down Ferrari’s dismal qualifying display at Silverstone to bad luck and a simple error. Ferrari had both of its cars eliminated in the opening part of qualifying on Saturday, after the team failed to react to the changing conditions in the final minutes of Q1. Fernando Alonso and team-mate Kimi Raikkonen qualified just 19th and 20th, as the slowest of the runners to set a time, although the pair will start 16th and 18th owing to penalties for Max Chilton, Esteban Gutierrez and Pastor Maldonado.
