Interview: Pirelli’s Paul Hembery

If you cast your mind back to what happened at Silverstone a year ago, tyre failures were the biggest talking point of what happened during the race. The fall out shook throughout the paddock like a proverbial tsunami, as both Pirelli and their Motorsport Director, Paul Hembery, caught the full impact, and had to react quickly in time for the German Grand Prix the following week. Since the major regulation shift to the new Power Units for 2014, there have been no further failures for the Italian tyre manufacturer that is contracted to the end of the 2016 season as the sole supplier for the sport.
