Rosberg leads from Hamilton in German GP first practice

Home favourite Nico Rosberg drew first blood at the German Grand Prix emerging as the fastest driver in the opening practice session on Friday. The German was just 0.065 seconds quicker than teammate Lewis Hamilton, who failed to find that little bit extra to get to the top of the charts. The Mercedes pair are locked in the battle for the title this season with Rosberg leading the championship by just four points. Fernando Alonso was third in his Ferrari ahead of Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo, whose teammate Sebastian Vettel was sandwiched by the McLaren duo in sixth.
