Five-place gearbox change penalty for Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton has been handed a five-place grid penalty for today's German Grand Prix, after Mercedes changed his gearbox. The Brit crashed out of yesterday's first qualifying session after suffering a right-front brake disc failure under braking for turn 13. The team confirmed on Twitter that the change of gearbox was due to damage sustained in Hamilton's impact with the wall in Q1. He will now drop from 15th place, having moved up a position due to a three-place grid drop from Silverstone for Esteban Gutierrez, to 20th. The team said: We can confirm that @LewisHamilton‘s gearbox will be changed for the race owing to accident damage incurred yesterday. 5 place penalty. — MERCEDES...
