Hamilton charges from 20th to third at the Hockenheimring

Lewis Hamilton recovered from 20th on the grid to third in today’s German Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring. It was an aggressive drive by the Brit after a disastrous qualifying session. A right-front brake disc failure caused him to crash in Q1. Despite making it through to the second segment, he was not able to complete a lap and finished in 16th. A penalty from Silverstone for Esteban Gutierrez moved him up to 15th, but a gearbox change dropping him back five positions. He managed to avoid the chaotic first corner to move up to 17th by the end of lap one, before swiftly moving up through the field.
