No clear evidence for Hamilton brake failure

Mercedes and brake supplier Brembo have taken the step of issuing a joint statement regarding the part failure that sent Lewis Hamilton into the Hockenheim tyre barrier during qualifying at the German Grand Prix. The problem, which was attributed to the front right brake, cost Hamilton a chance of competing for pole position. Having already posted the fastest time of Q1, Hamilton crashed heavily in the closing moments of the phase, allowing Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg a free ride to top spot on the grid, while the Briton wound up 20th after penalties were applied before the race.
