Lotterer’s Formula 1 debut lasts just a single lap
+ Andre Lotterer’s Formula 1 debut lasted just a single lap before the German, standing in at Caterham this weekend, was forced into retirement with a lack of power. Lotterer, a three time Le Mans winner, was a surprise call-up to replace Kamui Kobayashi ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, considering that ahead of Friday practice his last run in a Formula 1 car came in 2002, when he tested for the Jaguar team.
After an absence of 12 years from Formula 1 the Audi racer was expected to struggle, but quickly matched the pace of his temporary Caterham team-mate Marcus Ericsson, and outqualfiied the Swede on Saturday.
