McLaren and Whitmarsh finally part company

Martin Whitmarsh's gardening leave period is finally over with McLaren confirming he has left the team. Whitmarsh was replaced as team principal - a position he had held since 2009 - at the beginning of the year with Ron Dennis returning as McLaren Group CEO and Eric Boullier taking over as racing director during a restructuring process. The 56-year-old also the positions of head of operations, managing director and F1 CEO at various stages during his 24 years of service at the Woking-based squad.
