Sporting penalties for radio offences

Drivers and teams who contravene the new radio assistance regulations are likely to be hit with sporting penalties, according to FIA race director Charlie Whiting. Having announced a raft of radio and pit board message restrictions - including coded ones - earlier this week, the FIA backtracked on some of those before FP1 at Singapore on Friday morning. Messages about a driver's own performance remain banned, but the restrictions on the adjustment of power unit settings, the car's state of charge and clutch maps, among other things, will only come into effect next year.
