+ F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has dropped a hint that the controversial double points rule could be axed for 2015. The FIA confirmed late last year that the final round of the 2014 championship would be worth double points, in an effort to keep interest up until the end of the season in light of the sport’s plummeting TV figures across the globe. While the new ruling was met with criticism from fans, drivers, teams and the media alike, this season’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be worth double points, in what could be a one-off occurrence if Ecclestone is to be believed.
