Salo named as Suzuka driver steward

– Mika Salo will be the FIA driver steward at the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend.Salo, who is a regular in the Formula 1 paddock due to his commitments for Finnish TV, last performed the role at the Bahrain Grand Prix in 2013.The 47-year-old joins Paul Gutjahr and FIA Vice President José Abed on the panel for the event.Salo competed in over 100 Formula 1 events between 1994 and 2002, racing for Lotus, Tyrrell, Arrows, BAR, Ferrari, Sauber and Toyota. He notched up two podium finishes, both coming for Ferrari when he covered for the injured Michael Schumacher in 1999.
