Renault committed to sixth F1 power units
Renault has committed itself to using six power units in some cars this season as it seeks reliability in the final five races. The 2014 regulations state that any driver using a sixth power unit component will receive a ten place grid penalty, with Daniil Kvyat the first to receive such a punishment at the Italian Grand Prix. Renault supplies Red Bull, Toro Rosso, Lotus and Caterham, and Sebastian Vettel has openly said that he will need to do the same as Kvyat at some stage. Renault head of trackside operations Remi Taffin says Suzuka is a track where new power units are required due to the nature of the circuit, and he even believes some teams will limit mileage.
