Button set for five-place gearbox penalty

Getty Images Enlarge Jenson Button will take a five-place penalty for the United States Grand Prix due to a gearbox change. Rules state a gearbox has to last for six consecutive events but Button managed just two with his, after McLaren fitted a new unit to his car after his retirement at the Singapore Grand Prix in September. With a penalty set to be applied to wherever he qualifies, Button thinks hot conditions could help him recover lost ground on Sunday.
