Pastor Maldonado: “The car pace was surprisingly good”

The Lotus F1 Team had one of its most competitive weekends of 2014 at Austin, with Pastor Maldonado securing his first points finish of the year in ninth, with team-mate Romain Grosjean eleventh. Maldonado secured his first points as a Lotus driver in Austin, despite suffering two five-second penalties, one for speeding behind the safety car and another for a pit lane speed violation. He enjoyed fighting for points, something he hasn’t been able to do with this years car on many occasions.
