Pastor Maldonado says he is optimistic of scoring points during the Brazilian Grand Prix, despite a disappointing qualifying session. The Venezuelan was the slowest of the 18 runners and was eliminated in the first segment of qualifying. He will start the race in 16th place thanks to seven-place penalties for Sergio Perez and Daniil Kvyat.
