F1: Maldonado eyes qualifying improvement

Pastor Maldonado says Lotus is focusing on trying to improve its qualifying performance as it chases points in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. With double points up for grabs at the Yas Marina circuit this weekend, any top ten finish will be more lucrative than at previous races. Maldonado believes Lotus has a quick enough car in race trim to be able to score points but says he and team-mate Romain Grosjean need to be more competitive in qualifying to set up those opportunities. “I think it's crucial that we try and improve our qualifying pace because as soon as we are in the top twelve, things should be on the up and we'll be in a good position to fight for points,” Maldonado said. “We've...
