Alonso to leave Ferrari at the end of the season, confirms team

Ferrari has officially confirmed that Fernando Alonso will leave the team after the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday ending a partnership that lasted for five years. Alonso, 33, had a contract with Ferrari till the end of the 2016 season but after five fruitless years at Maranello the Spaniard's agreement was ended prematurely. The double world champion is expected to return to McLaren. 'It was a difficult decision to take, but a carefully considered one and from start to finish, my love for Ferrari was a prime consideration.
