Double points, standing restarts scrapped for 2015 in tweaks to sporting regulations

Following this week's meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in Qatar, the FIA has confirmed that double points and standing restarts will be scrapped for the 2015 Formula 1 season as part of some amendments to the sporting regulations. The issuing of double points for this year's race in Abu Dhabi did spark outrage in F1 circles, and although it had little say in the final championship standings, the ruling has been scrapped for 2015. The FIA had also planned to implement standing restarts for 2015, taking cars back to the grid following a safety car period. However, this has also been rescinded by the WMSC.
