Clear set to leave Mercedes

Jock Clear, Lewis Hamilton's senior performance engineer, is to leave Mercedes. Crash.net understands Clear informed Mercedes of his decision to leave after the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi and will work a 12 month notice period before his departure. Reports suggest he will switch to Ferrari, with the Scuderia having announced a “restructuring” this week, axing engineering director Pat Fry and chief designer Nikolas Tombazis. It is believed Clear will take over from Fry. Clear has been with the Brackley squad ever since its inception back in 1999 as British American Racing, the team later morphing into BAR, Honda, Brawn and now Mercedes.
