The long awaited VJM08 finally saw the light of day today in Barcelona, and the team quickly got to work putting in the miles. In the hour leading up to the lunch break, the VJM08 was fired up and sent out for an installation lap, a little earlier than expected. The team had announced the car would run in the afternoon, but Force India wasted no time and Nico peeled out onto the track to turn in the first few miles of the new car. He was immediately back in again as he picked up a puncture at the chicane, returning to the pits with a left rear tyre completely deflated.
