Nico Hulkenberg – the middle of the road misfit
Mired in the Formula One mid-field longer than he deserves, Nico Hulkenberg produced a stunning year in 2014 – even by his standards – to finish in the points on ten consecutive appearances and produce a final 20-lap masterclass at Monaco on aging tyres. Despite only slotting in two days of testing before heading to Melbourne, The VJM08 proved to be reliable out of the box; a crucial factor when your ultimate objective is to chase performance rather than chasing your tail – as Red Bull can attest.
