Williams given suspended fine over tyres

– Williams has been given a suspended fine of 10,000 after a tyre breach in Malaysian Grand Prix practice.All drivers are given an extra set of Prime tyres for the opening 30 minutes of first practice at each Grand Prix, after which they must be handed back to supplier Pirelli.But Felipe Massa used the designated set after the 30-minute mark."The competitor admitted the infringement and sought to mitigate," read a statement from the stewards."Having considered the facts the stewards accept that the infringement was inadvertent and no advantage was gained as a result."In the circumstances, the stewards decided that a suspended penalty was appropriate for the...
