Having gone into the Malaysian Grand Prix expecting to challenge Ferrari, Williams endured a relatively difficult Friday which saw them pick up a suspended fine for a tyre rules breach.  FP1 saw the Williams men down in 8th and 11th place, with the returning Valtteri Bottas the highest placed. Massa inadvertently picked up a penalty for the team after a minor tyre rules mistake.
