Hamilton claims Malaysian pole after rain delayed session – Qualifying Report

Lewis Hamilton has taken pole position for the Malaysian Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver was made to wait for the Q3 session after a torrential rainstorm, while Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel took 2nd place after narrowly missing out. Nico Rosberg took third place. Q1: Rain was in the air at the start of the qualifying session, with lightning visible to the east of the circuit. Despite the drivers being told about the threat, the first few minutes of Q1 were quiet. Unusually for the first qualifying section, Mercedes came out on track with the medium tyres, while most of the others went for the more expected hard tyre to start.
