A women-only championship is not the right approach for Formula 1

Last weekend at the Malaysian Grand Prix, Bernie Ecclestone revealed that he is considering an all-female championship to get more women into Formula 1. But that isn't the right approach. The Formula One supremo told The Guardian: “For some reason, women are not coming through – and not because we don’t want them.” The problem isn’t that women aren’t coming through to F1. It’s that there aren’t many women in comparison to men in the first place. Motorsport is naturally male-dominated, just as netball is a female-dominated sport. There are less women to start with.
