P2: Lewis ahead as rain arrives

Lewis Hamilton achieved the 'perfect' start to the Monaco GP weekend he wished for by doubling up on fastest practice times – although the world champion and the rest of the field completed scant running in P2 courtesy of rain showers. The combination of a red flag for an early crash for Manor's Roberto Merhi and then the onset of uncharacteristically wet Monte Carlo weather meant that, to the increasing frustration of fans both at the circuit and on social media, there were no cars out on track for a full hour in the 90-minute session. With less than 10 minutes to go, and with the rain having finally stopped, a handful of cars ventured out for exploratory laps on intermediate tyres...
