Hamilton ahead in rain-hit second practice

Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in the second free practice session at Monaco, making maximum use of the track before rain limited further running. Hamilton recorded his best time in the early runs on the soft tyre before Roberto Merhi crashed out, bringing out the red flags. He was lapping considerably quicker than his teammate, but lost control of his car on the exit of the tunnel, slamming into the wall on the right side of the track. When the track was cleared however, rain started to hit the track and gradually intensified, hampering progress for all competitors.
