One Year Rewind – Hamilton triumphs on home soil

Lewis Hamilton took his second home victory at last year’s British Grand Prix, dominating after a problem for Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg. The German driver entered the race weekend leading the championship and took pole position in qualifying, beating Sebastian Vettel by 1.6 seconds. Hamilton was fastest after the first runs but a light rain shower passed over Silverstone mid-way through Q3. After going slower through the first two sectors, Hamilton backed off on his final lap. However, conditions in sector three were much improved and the Brit fell back to sixth place, behind Rosberg, Vettel, Jenson Button, Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen.
