Ferrari boosted by new Allison deal

Ferrari has secured a boost to its long-term competitiveness in Formula 1 after agreeing a new contract extension with highly rated technical director James Allison. The Briton, who is given much of the credit for helping turn around Ferrari's fortunes this year, originally joined the Maranello outfit in July 2013, with his deal running out at the end of 2015. But despite speculation earlier this year that his place was in doubt, Ferrari sources confirmed on Thursday that he has just agreed a brand new deal that will keep him committed until 2018.
