Merc lose millions despite title triumph
Mercedes F1 have posted a loss of £76.9million for the 2014 financial year, despite winning both the Drivers' and the Constructors' Championships. The Brackley-based team reported a substantial increase in revenue, but an even greater rise in cost means that the team walks away with significant losses, although they are 'within the pre-defined parameters set by the shareholders.' Mercedes' revenue, which primarily comes from sponsorship and prize money, increased from £125.2m in 2013 to £146.9m in 2014, while their operating costs rose from £190.7m to £240.2m, a figure put down to the high costs of the hybrid V6 rule changes.
