‘Ferrari need to find 0.8 seconds over winter'

Ferrari's James Allison says the team need to find the best part of a second over the winter break to have a chance of closing the gap to Mercedes. The Scuderia made a big jump forward over the winter of 2014/2015. Having spent 2014 in the doldrums with Mercedes, Red Bull & Williams all enjoying a performance advantage over their F14-T, Ferrari emerged as a clear second best team in 2015 having improved their chassis and power unit. Speaking to Sky Sports F1 over the Russian Grand Prix weekend, Ferrari Technical Director says that he believes Ferrari closed the performance gap to around 0.8 seconds a lap over last winter.
