Grosjean 'not ready' for Formula 1 in 2009
– Romain Grosjean has admitted that he was not ready to make the jump to Formula 1 when he received a mid-season promotion to race for Renault in 2009.Grosjean was challenging Nico Hülkenberg for the GP2 title when Renault jettisoned Nelson Piquet Jr. prior to the European Grand Prix at Valencia and replaced him with the Frenchman.Grosjean, up against Fernando Alonso, struggled in the recalcitrant R29 and failed to score a point, as Renault was plagued by the subsequent fallout from the 'Crashgate' scandal.Grosjean was dropped at the end of the year but rebuilt his reputation by winning the GP2 crown in 2011, and returned to Lotus, where he started 83 races and claimed 10 podiums,...
