New US GP venue confirmed for 2018 calendar; Spa to be axed

Another city round is set to join the F1 calendar in 2018, with Anchorage signing a five year deal. Formula 1 continues its push into new territory from 2018, as an agreement has been reached with city officials of Anchorage, Alaska, to host the North Pole Grand Prix. Details of the city circuit are yet to be revealed, but renowned F1 designer Hermann Tilke, whose European GP track in Baku nears completion, is believed to be the man signed up to lead the project. The race comes at the expense of the beloved Spa-Francorchamps & the Belgian Grand Prix, where the government who subsidise the race are understood to be 'too European'.
