Red Bull will use canopy in FP1

Red Bull has confirmed that it will use its alternative to the Halo safety device in tomorrow's opening practice session. Speaking in Shanghai, team boss Christian Horner suggested that the device might be tried, but this depended on trials in the simulator and several static tests including having a wheel fired at it. With Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat both satisfied after trying the device's visibility on the simulator it will be run for real tomorrow. The FIA, which is determined to introduce a driver safety device for next season, is leaning in favour of the Halo, a mock-up of which was tried by Ferrari in pre-season testing.
