'Button nearly joined Williams'

Jenson Button almost rejoined Williams before agreeing a new deal with McLaren last year, Sky F1's David Croft has told the F1 Report. Button, who started his Formula 1 career with Williams in 2000, ended months of speculation in October by signing on for 2016 with McLaren while Valtteri Bottas eventually kept his seat with the Grove team. But Croft, speaking on this week's F1 Report, says that not only was Button on the verge of returning to Williams last season but he will also be an option for next year when both of the team's current drivers are out of contract.
