Alonso: Baku retirement precautionary

– Fernando Alonso says his retirement from the European Grand Prix was precautionary, to avoid causing damage to his power unit or other elements for future races.Alonso was running on the fringes of the top 10 when his car developed a gearbox-related issue, with McLaren ultimately calling him back to the pits nine laps from the finish."This was always going to be a difficult race for us – and that's made even more difficult when you don't see the chequered flag," Alonso commented after the Grand Prix."We had a developing issue on the gearbox which was getting worse and worse."We decided to retire the car in order to prevent damage to the power unit or anything...
