Analysis: What next for the Formula 1 driver market?

After months of Formula 1's silly season being primed to explode if Ferrari decided that it wanted a fresh driver on board, the announcement that it will retain Kimi Raikkonen has killed off much of the excitement. The second Ferrari seat was the most competitive opportunity that in theory was available – so prior to Raikkonen's deal being done, it was always going to be a prime focus for managers and drivers as they moved to position themselves.
