Carlos Sainz Jr: “We’ve had quite a tough day”

Carlos Sainz Jr was unable to break into the top ten in either free practice session at the Hungaroring on Friday before an energy recovery system issue forced him to stop on track at turn one late in the second session. The Scuderia Toro Rosso driver was fourteen in the opening practice and thirteenth before his stoppage in the second, but was unhappy with his performance despite improving the car between the session, feeling there is still more work to be done to fix the set-up issues on his STR11. “Not the best of Friday’s, unfortunately,” reflected Sainz. “We’ve had quite a tough day and we struggled a bit with the balance in FP1.
