FIA confirm cockpit protection for 2018 and free radio approach

German Grand Prix – The FIA have confirmed some form of cockpit introduction will be introduced in 2018, and that they are adopting a new approach to radio communication in Formula One. The Strategy Group unanimously agreed on the introduction of increased cockpit protection for 2018 at a meeting in Geneva on Thursday. Given the short amount of time until then, it was seen as the best option to ensure all options are fully evaluated. A statement from the FIA said the Halo is their preferred option, but a recent vote between the teams ruled out its introduction for next season. Nonetheless, further testing of the Halo will take place in Friday practice sessions throughout the 2017 season....
