Lewis Hamilton escapes penalty for unsafe release during final practice
Lewis Hamilton has escaped a penalty after he was investigated for an 'unsafe release' during final practice for the German Grand Prix on Saturday morning. The Mercedes driver was released from his garage as Haas' Romain Grosjean was driving down the pitlane. However Hamilton slowed as he joined the pitlane, causing Grosjean to brake and come to a stop to avoid a collision. Race control confirmed the matter would be investigated after the session, with Hamilton and a team representative called to the stewards office. It was decided that the team should be punished, with the stewards imposing a €10,000 fine.
