Bite-size tech: Ferrari blown axle and diffuser changes

Ferrari have made some alterations to the SF16-H for the Belgian Grand Prix in order to maximise its performance. Blown Axle Ferrari SF16-H, Side Photo by: Giorgio Piola Ordinarily Ferrari leaves the end of its axle open, allowing air collated by the brake duct inlet to be distributed around the brake duct or pass through the hollow axle exiting into the wake shed by the wheel and tyre, changing its shape to help improve performance downstream. For Spa the team has capped off the axle though, which will change how air moves around the car, something that may be particularly important at higher speeds when the blown axle is no longer providing the assistance it would do at lower speeds....
