The extra point for fastest lap will make a “big difference” in this year’s Formula 1 title battle, according to current championship leader Valtteri Bottas, who took the maximum 26 points from the season-opening event. Formula 1 chiefs confirmed during the run-up to the Australian Grand Prix that one point will be awarded at each event to the top 10 finisher who sets the fastest lap of the race.
