Pirelli rules out holding further tyre tests at GPs

Formula 1's tyre provider Pirelli says it won't be holding any further development testing at Grand Prix events in 2020, after receiving negative feedback from teams following last year's trial at the United States GP. "It is not good to plan any test of validation during the race weekend," Pirelli's motorsport boss Mario Isola admitted to Autosport magazine. "If we have to test a completely new tyre it's probably the wrong way to do that." He said that attempting to cram in tyre testing had been too much of a distraction for teams who already had limited time available to prepare for the imminent race.
