Leclerc gets ten place PU-related grid drop in Canada

Charles Leclerc will have a ten-place grid drop at the 2022 Canadian Grand Prix, after the failed Ferrari power unit, that ruined his Sunday in Azerbaijan, was declared a write-off. Ferrari confirmed that the PU was damaged beyond repair and the problem may have been linked to an earlier one at the Spanish Grand Prix. A spokeswoman said the team were working on 'countermeasures' to strengthen the package. Leclerc has plunged from Formula 1 championship frontrunner after three races to third overall, 34 points adrift of Red Bull's Max Verstappen, after eight of 22 rounds.
